BSA
Thank you to the helpers who turned up on Tuesday 13th October to clear the BSA room so that the library can be located back in the school building. They did a fantastic job and worked really hard.
Open Afternoon
On Tuesday we held a very successful Open Afternoon and welcomed around 30 parents to our school. House Captains and helpers from Year 6 showed our visitors around the school and were a real credit to Byron. Well done!
Thank you also to Renate Sherlock for organising the refreshments for the event and to Scott Freeman for his help with the preparations.
House Sports Afternoon
On Monday we held our first House event in school. The children spent the afternoon in their Houses and enjoyed participating in team games and activities. A big thank you goes to our new House Captains for leading their Houses so well and taking on responsibility.
House Captains

Parent Pay
From January 6th we will be introducing Parent Pay as a secure way for parents to pay for school lunches. This is used in over 70 schools across Croydon and means that children do not have to bring money to school as parents can pay on line or at pay points. There will be a letter after half term providing more details.
Parent Meetings
If you were unable to come and see your child’s class teacher last week please contact the school to make an appointment after half term. It is extremely important that you know how your child is getting on at school as you can then support your child in their learning.
Lost Property
We still have lots of lost property. After half term this will be displayed in the Infant hall from Monday 2nd November to Friday 6th November and then it will be disposed of. Please do check to see if there is anything that belongs to your child.
School Council
Our School Council is nearly up and running ready to go after half term. Elections have been held in Year 3 and so meetings will soon be under way. The School Council plays an important role in school life as it provides children with the opportunity to participate in decision making at school. The School Council will be providing regular updates for the Newsletter about the work that they have done.
Building Works
During half term there is going to be more work done on the ramp out side the main entrance. The ramp is going to be removed, a new one installed and the work will take approximately 4 weeks. This means that there will be no access to the office from the front door. If you need to visit the school office please do so via the door from the top playground and go through the main hall. I apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause but we do hope that there will be a big improvement to the main entrance. Please could you also talk to your children about keeping away from the area where the work is being carried out.
