The Reception team would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to Byron. 

The partnership between home and school is particularly important during the Reception year and parents are welcome into the classroom both at the start of the morning and after school. If you need more than a quick chat about your child we can arrange an appointment for a longer talk. Please feel free to come in and look at your child’s folder with them.

The classroom doors open at 8.55 and close at 9.05. If you arrive at school after this you need to come into school through the office and not by the classroom door. Please encourage your child to put up their own name to self-register in the morning and also to change their book to take home. It is important that all the children bring their book bags to school everyday, even if you haven’t had time to share their books with them, because there are often letters to take home.

If you are helping your child at home please use letter sounds and not letter names as this will help with their reading. Apart from the capital at the beginning of their name they need to learn to use lower case and not capital letters initially.

We are very lucky to have new climbing equipment and a sandpit this year. Please do not allow your child to use this before and after school.
