Reception Places 2009
We still have places available for Reception Class in September 2009.  If you have a child or know of someone who has a child born between September 1st 2004 and August 31st 2005 and they need a school place please do come and talk to either Mrs Small or myself.

Communication
We sent the last Newsletter electronically to Year 3 and will be doing so again this time and also including Year 4.  We still do not have many email contact details so please can you complete the slip at the bottom of the Newsletter and return it to the School Office.

Painting
You will all have seen the beautiful mural on the wall outside school.  This provides a very welcoming look to the school entrance and has already received many positive comments from visitors.

Thank you to Wendy Mills, one of our parents, for all her hard work painting and to Helena Griffiths in Year 4 for her design and for helping Wendy to do the last section of painting.  The gate has now been mended and will be painted blue.

SATs
I am sure that the children (and parents!) in Year 6 will be giving a big sigh of relief as the Key Stage 2 SATs have now finished.  Well done to all the children in Year 6 who worked really hard and I am sure have done their best.  A big thank you to Ms Sayers and Ms Bull for all the hard work and preparation that they did endeavouring to keep the children focused and motivated.

Year 2 are still working on their Key Stage 1 SATs.  The assessment of the children at Key Stage 1 can be carried out over a period of several months and does not comprise of just one test.

Years 3, 4 and 5 will be completing Optional SATs after half term during the week beginning June 8th.

Clubs
Film Club – This is a real hit! There are still places at the Film Club which is for children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 and takes place on a Wednesday after school.  For further details, do ask at the school office.
Chess Club – This takes place during Wednesday lunchtime and is run by the Coulsdon Chess Fellowship.  If you are interested please do ask for a leaflet.
Athletics Club – This will start after half term for children in Years 3-6 and will be run by Mrs Fisk.

Packed Lunches
If your child would like a packed lunch as an alternative to a school meal, for instance for a school trip, this can be made by the school kitchen but we do need to know in advance.  A packed lunch menu is available from the office.

Litter
Sadly, we have this week received complaints from local residents about rubbish, including soiled nappies, clothes and a child car seat, allegedly left by visitors to the school site.  Our Safer Neighbourhood police advisers have informed us that this is classed as fly-tipping and if caught, offenders may subject to court proceedings and a heavy fine.  Residents have been advised by the police to note and report the registration numbers of any cars involved and spot patrols will also be taking place.

INSET Day
Please do not forget that Monday 1st June is an INSET Day and school will be close for children.
